Not too long ago, I was talking with a client about helping him with his relationships and how to improve them.  His story reminded me of  my past struggles in relationships.  I shared with him how negative self-talk was playing a powerful role in damaging my relationships.  Most importantly, my relationship with myself.  Because I thought of myself in a negative way, my feelings, choices, and behaviors fell in line with my thoughts. My turning point came when I woke up feeling sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I wanted better for myself because I knew I deserved better.  I was finally able to accept that I was created for a beautiful purpose and was willing to do whatever necessary to take control of my destiny.  Life coaching was a wonderful experience in my life. But I will always be thankful that I gave myself permission to live in the light and no longer exist in the darkness!

What do your voices say to you?

The other day I was thinking about my life and how I have chosen to live it.  It was a beautiful experience looking back and seeing how my choices have led me to this season of my life.  Here’s what I learned about myself:

First, I live with few regrets.  Years ago, I promised myself that living with regrets would not be my reality. There was a time in my life when I was afraid to live life. I protected myself too much and became bitter as I watched other people live life.

Second, God has given me what at times I wasn’t able to give myself. “LOVE.”  Looking back at some of the more difficult moments of my life, I can see the loving hand of God at work. I recall tender memories of various people giving me a hand up and encouraging me to pursuit my dreams.

Lastly, being aware of my destiny. Since the age of nine, I knew being a life coach/therapist/counselor was my life’s calling. For as long as I can remember, I felt that God gave me this gift to share with the world. When I operate within my gift, I feel a closer connection to God. The closer I am to God, the better friend I am to myself. And when I am loving to myself I become a more dynamic life coach to my clients.

Life’s good!

What does your life teach you?

The very moment we take control of our lives and destiny, we set into motion waves of positive energy that have interesting ripple effects.  In our genuine quest to become better, the universe will most assuredly give us necessary opportunities to challenge our thinking.  And if your’re like me, even though I have learned to welcome those challenges, I don’t always like the way they make me feel.

Years ago, a wonderfully wise and beautiful friend taught me the “Power of Cool.”  The Power of Cool is a phrase I  coined to mean remaining cool and calm in negative or uncertain circumstances.  I recently have employed The Power of Cool method and realized two wonderful effects it produced.

First, my unhealthy circumstances forced me to remember why taking control of my life, in this moment, is necessary.  It taught me that my dreams, hopes, and desires are worth any challenge. Each day has given me new respect for myself, increased my self-worth, and given me a stronger desire to accomplish my goals.

Second, the people around me are given beautiful opportunities for change.  When I do not react they way others expect, then at that moment they must adapt. When I remain cool and unemotional, my positive energy sends a powerful message that I am in control and have a wonderful and well deserved advantage.

No matter what circumstance you find yourself in, remember “The Power of Cool” and why it is important to your destiny.

“Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain cool and unruffled under all circumstances.” Thomas Jefferson

What do you tell yourself?

Each morning is a new opportunity to become the person that

you were created to be.  We are all made to live strong,

fearless, and abundant lives.  The ability to love in many

directions puts us on the path to reap a great harvest.

How many directions will you love?

Future Focused

Many of us have been in a place where we are so low that the only direction we can go is up.
Life has a way of pushing us up against a wall. Despite feeling hopeless, we actualy have
several options. We could either throw in the towel or begin to fight back. I am a fighter.
I have overcome challenges so difficult that I thought I would never survive. But in
those moments of feeling overpowered, I chose to fight back with my mind. As a survivor,
I now know that I can’t change anyone but myself. However, I can change the way I respond.
Even though life may be filled with challenges, I will choose to dream of the life that I deserve.
I deserve love, laughter, and joy. Most importantly, I deserve wonderful people in my life.
I will choose to be grateful for what I have right now and anticipate more blessings to come.

What are you grateful for?

This morning I found myself enjoying the beauty in the simple things of life. A patient,
where I work, that suffers with a chronic mental illness taught me that no matter
the circumstance, there is joy to be experienced and shared. Now this patient has
bravely battled one struggle after another. At times, frustration and hopelessness
seemed to be her constant companions. But for a few moments, when a song began to
play, she was magically taken to a place where peace and joy became her new best
friends. The problems, worries, and frustrations no longer existed. Her smile was
brighter, she interacted with her peers, and most importantly, she was able to
see and feel herself living again.
To others it was just a song. To this wonderful lady it was a brilliant way to
reclaim something that had been missing for a long time. By allowing her light
to shine, she was able to shine on others.
Have you found your song?

Recently, I was blessed by a friend that gave me a boost of confidence, love, and faith.

At the moment, life seems to be giving me many valuable lessons.  And even though

I know that I will make it through unscathed, I can’t help but feel the pressures of it all.

Now one thing is certain.  The love and support of good friends makes this journey we call

life worth the price of this fantastic ride!

Who makes up your support system?

Future Focused

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.

To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to
permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud
words, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true
to the best that is in me.

I Promise Myself…

To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.
To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimisim come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own…
