Rules For Survival

Rule #1: DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE THINGS YOU CANNOT CONTROL.
This can be only our behavior, no one else’s behavior. To be in control
of our own behavior, we must recognize its limits.

Rule #2: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF OR YOU CAN’T TAKE CARE OF ANYONE ELSE.

Rule #3: TROUBLE IS EASIER TO PREVENT THAN TO FIX.

Rule #4: BE ACCEPTING OF YOURSELF.
Don’t ignore feelings and needs; accept limitations.
Limit the “tyranny of the shoulds.”

Rule #5: BE ACCEPTING OF OTHERS.
Limit the “shoulds.”

Rule #6: ASK FOR SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED IT.
Seek people out who support you and use positive thinking skills.

Rule #7: ACCEPT, ALTER, OR AVOID A NEGATIVE SITUATION.

Rule #8: IF YOU NEVER MAKE MISTAKES, YOU’RE NOT LEARNING ANYTHING.

Rule #9: LIFE IS NOT FAIR OR A CONTEST.
Avoid the all-too-common “comparison trap.”

Rule #10: ONE HAS TO START WHERE A PERSON IS AT.
